3 Nov

I didn’t find much going on this weekend. Being right after so many Halloween festivities, I guess that is to be expected.

NekoCon is this weekend, and is yet another local anime con.

If you wanted to move on from Halloween into Thanksgiving, what better way than to witness some Punkin’Chunkin’ LIVE? It’s a bit of a drive, being at Great Country Farms in Bluemont, VA, but it is a pretty epic tailgatingdecsturtorb event! It will November 3-4 , and admission is $10. [WaPo]

Select performances from the Capital Fringe Festival this summer will be repeated in Fall Fringe (plus a few brand new shows).  They run from November 1-18 at 607 New York Ave, NW. [DC.about.com]

Saturday there will be what could be the dangerously deliciousD.C. Half and Half Marathon.  After running 6.55 miles, racers must eat a half smoke and chili from Ben’s Chili Bowl, after which they have to run the remaining 6.55 miles to the finish. Yikes. It kicks off at Carter Barron Amphitheater (4850Colorado Avenue NW) at 8:30am, but I’d say hang out near theChilli Bowl for the best/worst views. [DCist]

Also remember that Tuesday is Election day. Please vote!  If you still are unsure, or don’t know about senate and local races, I highly looking up your local district at the League of Women Voters website.  And after that, go to one of the hundreds of viewing parties at bars and other establishments throughout the city. There will be drink specials and tons of amusing (if not irritating) commentary on this tight race!

Now that the chilly days of autumn have fully hit DC, I bet you’re craving hot mulled cider and pumpkin!  Thankfully, it’s aplenty around here! Check out the list of Pumpkin Festivals to get started.  There are also more Oktoberfests and corn mazes, too!

Amurica! Corn and guns!

If you want more substantial noms, the National Harbor Restaurant Week will be going on until October 21, 2012. [DC.about.com]

The AFI Silver Center is hosting two separate, overlapping film festivals. They are the DC Labor FilmFest, with 11 films focusing on the workplace (including such classics as Black Legion, The Pajama Game, and Box Car Bertha) and the Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival, with movies such as President Wolfman, Ninjas vs. Monsters, and A Little Bit Zombie. All tickets at AFI are $11.50. [theDistrict]

I’ve never seen it empty like this

This weekend is also the return of the Sugarloaf Craft Festival at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg.  It’s like the most epic place to buy all your Christmas gifts, evar.  Finally, Georgetown is playing host to Days of Design.  At their Design District, Cady’s Alley, there will be a series of special events, workshops, exhibitions, pop-ups and promotions held October 13th – 21st.  One hour parking will be available with validation in stores at the 330 7 M Street garage (entrance on Bank Street).  [GeorgetownDC]

Beyond these events, there is little that I found interesting to do this weekend.  The decrease may also be due to the fall weather!
