Being Social: The Weekend of 3.1.13

1 Mar

Hello again, fellow geeks! There’s a lot going on not only this weekend, but the following week as well.  Enjoy!

Alexandria always ends up having an early St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  It’s a big one, though! []

For those that enjoy flaunting the luck’o the Irish, the beer is flowing early for DC Leprechaun Lap.  This pub crawl features 21 Dupont bars with specials like $2 Coors Lights/$3 Blue Moons, strolling bagpipers, and thousands of Irish loving partiers.   Tickets are $9.

This is a tease because tickets are sold out, but it’s good to keep on your radar if you like this kind of thing: the Ninth Annual Brewer’s Ball brings together handcrafted microbrews from more than a dozen of the region’s best microbreweries and brewpubs and cuisine from several local restaurants. Proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. [DCist]

On Sunday and Monday, there will be a Pig Butchering Demo and Charcuterie and Beer Tasting. At this demo, you can see how to get different cuts, andhlearn how to use the cuts to make your own bacon, pancetta, and more.  Guests will also sample charcuterie such as porchetta, pancetta, tarese, coppa, and sopressata, paired with two artisanal beers. Tickets are $69. [PoP]
