January 26-29 you can watch Wreck it Ralph at the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse.  If you haven’t been to this theatre, go.  It’s motto should be “beer and a movie”. They usually show pretty good movies (including throwbacks) and even host theme nights! Tickets are $2 – $6.50.

The 25-27th will play host to the first Sugarloaf Crafts Festival of the year! Hit it up to get the perfect valentine gift for yourself or your loved one.

There will be a 1k Beer Walk this weekend, hosted by the Washington Wine Academy. Tickets are $35 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday! There will be 50 beers, and you get to taste 20 during the ‘race’. Then you can go home, happy and warm with your beer coat on.

The Capital Wine festival will also be taking place from January 25th-March 26th. [DC.about.com]

Being Social: Inauguration in DC

19 Jan

This weekend will be a ton of really way-too-expensive inaugural balls, but also hundreds of restaurant and bar specials to celebrate President Obama’s re-election and re-inauguration.  As an added bonus, it’s MLK weekend! So go finds things to do for both the Presidential Inauguration 2013 & Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday. MLK_Memorial

There are also a lot of galleries and exhibits that feature Inauguration stuff such as:

  • the Newseum (Tickets are $20 and up for the weekend, $100 but sold out on the 21st)
  • a pop-up America x Trains exhibit, featuring signs and graffiti about transport (free)
  • political cartoons about Obama that will be on display at Malmaison in Georgetown. (Tickets are $10-20.  Pre-order for a cheaper price!)
