Mass Effect: The Movie

Yep.  Another unoriginal movie concept… but at least it’s based off a sci-fi game!  Just days ago, Electronic Arts (EA) announced that anime distributor Funimation Entertainment and Tokyo-based anime and international feature film production studio T.O Entertainment will produce an anime film adaptation based on the Mass Effect series. I’m assuming this contains both the BioWare games and the comics, but it’s too soon to tell.

Funimation describes the planned movie as a “…tale of an epic science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets.”  According to the T.O website, “…the secrets of the world, have been revealed little by little through various media over the last few years. This time, we will extended the depth of the story further through the film. [via Google Translate]” It is pretty vague, but one can hope that it turns out to have the wicked plot twists and badass babes [Possibly NSFW] that the games had.

The film will be released in the summer of 2012… but unfortunately it’s a digital/direct-to-video release. ><
